About Ven.Kirulapana Dhammawijaya Thero
Ven. Kirulapana Dhammawijaya Thero is a versatile Buddhist monk who has mastered Abhidharma and Vinaya, the foundational discourses of Theravāda Buddhism, and is qualified to guide both monks and laypeople.
He is the founder and spiritual advisor of Sujatha Puthra and Sujatha Diyani Meditation Centers, dedicated to the spiritual and academic development of Buddhist monks and nuns. Additionally, Ven. Thero serves the community as a visiting lecturer for the Buddhist Psychiatric Council.
As a layman, Ven. Thero was educated at St. John's College Nugegoda, a prestigious boys' school in Colombo. After ordination, he excelled in advanced Buddhist studies, becoming a scholar by successfully completing examinations conducted by the Rāmañña Maha Nikāya of Sri Lanka. Ven. Thero has received degrees in Saddharmācārya, Vinayācārya, Abhidharmācārya, and Abhidharma Viśārada, achieving top results in all these degrees and emerging as the highest achiever in the island.
Before becoming a monk, Ven. Kirulapana Dhammawijaya Thero served in the Sri Lankan Army.
Although he was born and raised in Colombo, he currently resides at the Sujatha Puthra Forest Monastery in Anuradhapura.
